A few days ago, I was writing an abstract to submit it for a historical linguistics conference. It was difficult to do, but after I had written it, it felt so good to create even such a small piece of writing. Plus, it inspired me to take more notes and make a rough plan about the paper I am going to write to present at the conference - if they accept my proposal, that is.
And a couple of days later, I was looking around on LinkedIn - there are some amazing academics to check out over there - and Jo VanEvery, an amazing academic who gives terrific advice for PhDs on her website Transforming Academic Lives, had posted this audio tip on her profile:
Conferences as motivation to write - click on it, it is great advice!
The Music Highlight
Today’s music highlight is a relatively new (to me and to the world of music) band - you know I love the 80s but I’m always on the lookout for new music. I get recommendations from my nieces and nephews, and my younger students as well!
I discovered this band randomly on Instagram one day. Someone had made a reel with their music playing and I thought whoa - they’re great!
They’re called Vacation Manor and they’re an indie rock band from Virginia in the US.
The track I’m sharing today is mesmerizing and so beautiful!
Enjoy!
And juggling it all at the same time the way you do,, Vicky! Heroic!
