Thunderstruck
Have you ever met your academic heroes? Plus, the Music Highlight

If you are a regular reader of the newsletter, you have probably noticed that I am HUGE fan of Duran Duran (since I was six years old, may I add : )
What is your favourite band or singer of all time?
You might be wondering where I am going with all of this. Well, the same way we adulate musicians, sportspeople, and so on, a lot of us also have academic heroes!
Who are your academic heroes?
Have you ever met them in real life/seen them online?
Did you feel thunderstruck when you met them?
Are they nice?
If you contacted them first, why did you do it (if you want to share)?
Do you think it is important to meet them?
Do you also think (like I do) that they sometimes need to know how great and impactful they are?

The Music Highlight
Now this song is so amazing and dynamic, that it really motivates me when I hear it - no matter how I am feeling!
Plus, I love it because when my older nephew was at hockey practice in Switzerland, they had something like an electronic jukebox there - you could put some coins in and choose some songs. I always chose Thunderstruck for him among others, it just matches the dynamism of hockey and my nephew loves it too!
Turn it on full blast!

The 80s are special for me, as they were my teenage years. I remember watching a Duran Duran concert on TV around 1985 or 1986 when I was a university student. Years later, when they came to Istanbul for a concert in 2012, I was there. I wasn’t a teenager anymore, but that feeling was still there. I was thinking about my own music hero while reading your post, but somehow this memory came back even stronger. Thank you Vicky for bringing back these beautiful moments :) :) :)
Yes!!! What memories and what a song! What a great piece of work once again, Vicky!
