Note-taking is a huge part of any type of study. Especially in the PhD, notes are everywhere: in books (I write in them, I highlight them), articles, notebooks - your thesis, anything you read!
How do you do it?
I started only on paper, but it was impossible to keep buying books and printing so many things on paper - so I took the plunge and bought an iPad. I was so wary at first - not of the technology, I love it and all the possibilities it has - but how can it possible feel like a book? How can I take notes and feel happy about it, as I have always done?
I searched what other people were doing, and I got one of those skins you put on the screen which feels like paper, and it does! Plus, you can highlight, take notes (I got the Apple pen, what a great purhcase and it feels so nice in your hand) and do anything you do on paper. Your notes and highlights are all saved automatically.
Now I am between paper and the iPad, depending on what I am reading.
This post is nothing new to many people, but I am curious:
How many of you take notes on paper? Do you have a special method?
Are you more techy? Where do you take your notes?
Are you a book aficionado like me? : ) (I have about 900 books, both literature and for my research combined!)
